Proper Cornish wins British Pie Award & Cornwall Business Award Proper Cornish Food Company in Bodmin is celebrating its win of two prestigious awards in one week – it was winner of the Cornish Pasty category at the British Pie Awards and also won the Best Diversification category at the Cornwall Business Awards.
The British Pie Awards took place in Melton Mowbray, Leicester on Wednesday with more than 700 pies being tasted by more than 60 judges, who included a host of food experts and celebrity chefs. Well known TV chef and author, Phil Vickery, along with food writer and celebrity chef, Tamasin Day-Lewis judged the Cornish Pasty category. They were impressed by the taste and authenticity of the winning handmade Cornish pasty from Proper Cornish which is made to a traditional family recipe handed down through generations.
The Cornwall Business Awards were presented at St Mellion International Resort on Thursday in front of an audience of 300 business and public sector leaders. Former Vice Chairman at West Ham United Football Club, Karren Brady, presented the award for Best Diversification to Jane Flowerdew, Marketing Director of Proper Cornish Food Company.
Renowned for supporting local farmers and working closely with suppliers to source all of its farm produce locally wherever possible, Proper Cornish places a huge emphasis on provenance and sustainability. The company uses only the finest, freshest ingredients, sourced in Cornwall wherever possible and avoids preservatives and artificial additives in its products. Proper Cornish are part of the Cornish Pasty Association supporting the protection of the Cornish Pasty.
